The sitting room (above) is one of the cosiest places in Glenside. When the frosty claws of winter are scratching at the door you'll always find a roaring fire in the hearth and beautiful decorations at Christmas. The shelves are stacked with books about Lake Land and its history. There's even a selection of board games on hand.
Until recently one of the most frequent visitors to the sitting room was Coco the cat. She would often be found lounging on one of the comfy chairs or parked in front of the fire. Her ability to "hog" all the cosiest places for much of the day and night gave rise to the theory that Coco wasn't actually asleep but in a state of semi-hibernation!
Sadly, Glenside's favourite moggy recently slipped away for a long sleep of an altogether different kind. No longer will guests encounter that small, dark shape snuggled outside the door to their room like some discarded ball of socks. She was the kind of glamour-puss everyone remembered and is sure to miss. |
