The sitting room is one of the cosiest places in the whole of Glenside. In the winter there is always a fire roaring in the hearth and beautiful decorations at Christmas. The shelves are stacked with books about the Lake Land and its history. There's even a selection of board games on hand.
One of the most frequent visitors to the sitting room is Coco the cat. She can often be found lounging on one of the comfy chairs or parked in front of the fire. Her ability to "hog" all the cosiest places for much of the day and night has given rise to the theory that Coco does not so much sleep but actually slips into a state of hibernation.
Guests may also encounter Coco in the corridor leading to the bedrooms. The small, dark shape, snuggled in a ball is not - as some may think - a discarded slipper but a rather tired moggie caught in the act of grabbing yet another 40 winks.
It's hard work being a house cat.
